Our country: Greece



—Greece is located in Southern Europe, its mainland is located at the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula.

 

Greece is home to the first advanced civilizations in Europe and is considered the birthplace of Western civilization. It is also renowned for its mythology (the 12 gods living in Mount Olympus) and the Olympic Games.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our city: Athens


Athens is the capital of Greece. It is also the largest city, with a population of 4 million.

 

When thinking about Athens, it is usually the Acropolis that first comes to mind. It is the most significant reference point of ancient Greek culture, as well as the symbol of the city itself, as it represent the apogee of artistic development in the 5th century BC.


 

Our neighbourhood: Vrilissia

—Vrilissia is a suburban municipality of the North Athens regional unit, in the Attica region. It lies approximately 10 km (6 miles) north-east of the centre of Athens basin, at the southwestern foot of the Penteli Mountain. At the 2011 census, the municipality had 30,741 residents.

 

The area of the Vrilissia municipality is 3.86 square km (1.49 square miles).

—Vrilissia is an affluent suburb with several schools spanning all grades, sporting grounds and parks; it is also home to a large commercial district with a number of banks and several malls within its territory.

 

Vrilissia has exceptionally wide, straight roads, in stark contrast to those typically found in Athens, and is also relatively green, with most houses/apartment blocks extending to gardens.
